What kind
of image can I send?
Subject to copyright issues (see below)
you can send:
photographs, postcards, calendar pictures,
greetings cards, wrapping paper, magazine
or newspaper cuttings, paintings, calligraphy,
computer-generated images/text, children's
drawings, embroidery, dried flowers, material,
etc. etc.
THE BETTER THE ORIGINAL, THE BETTER
THE RESULT, ESPECIALLY FOR LARGER ITEMS.
What if I still can't think of anything?
Some of the items on this site have Do-It-Yourself
versions. Just order the item you want and
choose a suitable image in the comfort of
your own home. All DIY items come with (very
simple) instructions.
OR ask us for an idea. We do for example
have a large selection of animal images,
or general-interest photographs. Tell us
the occasion, who the gift is for, the approximate
price band, and we'll try to suggest something.

Could you
explain about copyright?
Printed materials such as postcards are
subject to copyright, as are photos not
taken by you, unless you have obtained permission
from the photographer. No copyright is involved
if we are using the ACTUAL photo, postcard
etc. This includes photographs (e.g. wedding)
taken by a professional photographer. But
if you ask us to COPY something, then you
are responsible for any breach of copyright.
For which items do you need to copy
the photo?
We have put copyright warning notices on
certain items such as wooden jigsaws, which will always require
the image to be copied. For certain small
items such as keyrings, we would probably
require to use a copy, in order to reduce
the image to a suitable size.
If you order more than one of any item,
we would require to copy the image, unless
you send the correct number of photos for
the number of items.

How
do I send digital images?
For e-mailing, we recommend a BMP or TIF
image of no more then 10MB, re-saved as
a JPG image of no more than 1.5MB. If you
are unsure whether the photo would be OK
for the item you want to order, e-mail it
to us before ordering and we will confirm
whether it is suitable.
You can also send larger digital images
on cd. The cd will be returned to you.
REMEMBER IF YOU ARE
SENDING US A PHOTOGRAPH VIA UPLOAD OR EMAIL,
YOU ALSO NEED TO PLACE AN ORDER FOR THE ITEM
YOU WANT IT ON.
How do I send images by post?
Send them in a cardboard-protected
envelope. A 6 x 4 print is adequate. Please
note that while every care will naturally
be taken with your photo(s), liability for
loss/damage extends to the cost of materials
sent only. This includes loss by the
postal service. If a photo is irreplaceable
or of special value, you might consider
sending it by special delivery, insuring
it, or getting a copy made first.
If I send my image by post,
do I get it back?
If we use the actual image then we cannot
return it, but if we use a copy, we will
send your original back along with your
order.
How do you crop the image for
a round or square item?
If we receive no special instructions,
we will use our own judgment. If unsure,
we will contact you.
The description for each item specifies
the size of the image, so you can make a
rough assessment with a ruler, or an accurate
one with a template - but this may not apply
if we are using a different-size copy
of the image.
If you are sending the image by post, DO NOT TRY TO CUT THE PICTURE YOURSELF, OR WRITE ON IT. If you have special instructions, please
write them on a separate sheet of paper.
What if I have special instructions?
You can add them to the "extra
information" box at checkout (or phone,
fax or e-mail us).

How long
does my order take?
DIY items are normally
shipped within a few days.
For orders using photos/artwork, normally
allow up to 2 weeks from when we receive
your order. This time will almost certainly
increase pre-Christmas.
Always tell us your deadline when
ordering. If your deadline is tight,
it is best to check by phone or e-mail before
you place the order. We can tell you at
once if it's not possible.
Can I have an item sent to another
UK address?
Yes, just make sure we have
your own contact details in case of a query
with the order, as well as the recipient's
name and address. If you want us to enclose
a gift card, add a 'small greetings card'
to your shopping basket, tell us at checkout
what the occasion is and what you want to
put on your card, and we will enclose something
suitable with the gift.

How
can I pay?
You can pay by secure credit card facility
on this site via Worldpay. If you prefer
to pay by cheque or postal order, please print
off the order form
and send it with your cheque payable to Photos
On Things. Or you can pay by credit card over
the telephone: 01895 635714.
What about postage and packing?
There is a standard charge
of £2.00 per order for UK post and packing.
This will be added at checkout.
This is for 'normal' orders - postage will
be charged at cost for customers ordering
at discounted prices, and will be indicated
when we quote you a price.
Do your prices include vat?
Yes.
Most of the items on the website
are liable to vat at the standard rate (17.5%)
and it is included in the prices shown.
It is clearly indicated where an item is
zero-rated.
Vat-registered companies in the UK or within
the EEC can reclaim the vat, please ask
for a vat invoice when ordering.
Do you send overseas?
Overseas customers please e-mail
us before ordering. This is because some
items are heavy and cost a lot more to post
abroad. If you tell us what you are thinking
of ordering (item and quantity) we can give
you an estimate of the shipping. Also, for
customers outside the UK/EEC, we can deduct
vat.

What
if I don't like the result?
Contact us within 7 days of
receipt and tell us what's wrong. Depending
on what the problem is, we will replace
the item, substitute another, or offer you
a refund or credit.
